it turns out that june did, in fact, exist
Jul. 1st, 2024 08:57 pmI'm not entirely convinced of that *side-eyes*
Anyway, writing stats!
I wrote, in total, 59k words in Jun! That's a record. (It's only that high because there were five complete weeks in Jun, so I did in fact write 13k every week for five weeks in a row, instead of four. I expect I'll write less in July; maybe 55k or something like that?)
In June I also set a new 'most words written in a single day' record and that record is now at 6.4k words. That sure was a Sunday, whew. Overall, my yearly word-count is now at 277k words, meaning it is like 20k words above what
getyourwordsout thinks my pledge level should have ended the month on. That is absolute bananas to me (and I'm very proud!)
I did, as you might have guessed, hit my weekly goal in June. This means moving onward; in July my goal will be 14k words every week. Not gonna lie, this worries me. Not just because that is *a lot of words* but because I'm going away visiting family in July and I don't know how the writing will go. At this point, I've embedded this schedule deep enough into my neurodivergent brain that the idea of purposefully missing/lowering my goal is anathema and kind of nauseating, so I don't really know what I'm going to do.
The only strategy I've come up with so far is; try to write the whole goal in like the first four day of the week so it's out of the way and I don't have to worry about it. That's like... well, I'm not going to do the math because I never do, it's less stressful when I don't have to know what daily average or whatever I need to hit. I just write how I feel like and panic on Sundays when I realize I should have written a lot more.
Anyway, I think 14k by the like, Thursday that week *should* be doable.
This ties into interesting data I am keeping an eye on; in June, I once more only wrote 23 days. That number is really stubborn. I'm still not writing on more days, I'm only writing more *on the days I'm writing.* 23 out of 30 days should mean that I could potentially do 14k words in 4 days...
Potentially.
